Discord anti-raid bot that spots join raids and locks the server for you

A raid is a wave of throwaway accounts joining at once to spam, ping and scare your members away. BotGG’s anti-raid mode recognises the wave from how the accounts look, not just how fast they arrive, then closes the doors until it is quiet again.

The raid alert with the suspicious accounts and bulk buttons

What you get

A raid score, not just a counter

Every burst gets a 0–100 score from the join rate, brand-new accounts, missing profile pictures, look-alike usernames and one shared invite link.

Automatic lockdown

Every channel @everyone can write in — or only the ones you pick — is locked, and the previous permission overwrites are restored exactly afterwards.

Captcha gate

With Verification enabled, newcomers must solve its image captcha while the raid lasts. Without it, they are timed out or kicked on join, as you choose.

Raid accounts in one list

Accounts that share a name pattern or invite, or are new with no avatar, are listed in the alert with “Ban all listed”, “Kick all” and “Dismiss”.

An always-on join gate

Even outside raids, kick or time out accounts younger than a set number of days or still using the default avatar.

Ends on its own

Each new join during the raid pushes the end back; after the calm period you choose, the lockdown lifts. Or end it with /lockdown end.

How it works

  1. Enable anti-raid mode

In the BotGG console open Moderation → Protection → Anti-raid and switch it on. The defaults work for most servers.

  2. Tune detection

Set the classic rule (N joins in T seconds), the raid score threshold and minimum burst size, which signals count and what “young account” means for your server.

  3. Choose the response

Pick channels to lock, the captcha gate or a join action, the minimum account age during a raid, what to do with the raid cluster, and who gets pinged.

  4. Handle the alert

When a raid hits, review the listed accounts in Discord and ban or kick them in one click — the console’s incident log can undo a bulk ban later.

How BotGG decides a join burst is a raid

Two rules run side by side. The rate rule fires when a set number of members join within a set number of seconds. Smart detection looks at smaller bursts too: if enough accounts join together and their raid score reaches your threshold, it is treated as a raid even when the pace is slower.

Usernames are normalised before they are compared — accents stripped, separators and trailing digits removed, look-alike digits folded — so raider_01, R4ider-02 and raider.03 end up in the same group. Every signal can be switched off if it doesn’t fit your community.

  • Signals: join rate, accounts younger than N days, default avatar, similar names, the same invite code.
  • Raid cluster action: list only (a dry run, the default), kick or ban.
  • Accounts younger than your minimum age are kicked while the raid lasts.
  • Alerts go to your alert channel or mod log and can ping the roles you choose.

Raids, nukes and scam waves: one Protection tab

Anti-raid lives next to anti-nuke and phishing link protection in Moderation’s Protection tab, whose Protection score shows what is still missing. If things get out of hand, /panic start locks every channel and pauses invites for the whole server.

For new-member screening on calm days, pair it with Verification — see the Discord verification guide. The anti-nuke guide covers a full server hardening checklist.

Frequently asked questions

What is a Discord raid?

A raid is a coordinated wave of accounts — usually new alts or bots — joining a server at the same moment to spam messages, mass-ping members or post shock content. An anti-raid bot spots the wave and locks the server before the spam spreads.

How do I stop raids on my Discord server?

Turn on anti-raid mode with channel lockdown and the captcha gate, enable Verification so newcomers can’t talk until they pass, raise Discord’s own verification level and add AutoMod spam and mention rules. The automod setup guide suggests starting values.

Will a big event or a shout-out trigger a false alarm?

A popular stream can push many real people in at once. That is why the raid score weighs account age, avatars, names and invites, and why the raid cluster defaults to “list only”: you review the accounts and only then ban or kick them.

What happens to channel permissions after the raid?

BotGG stores each channel’s previous overwrites and restores them exactly when the lockdown ends — after the calm period you set, or when someone runs /lockdown end.

Can I undo a mass ban made during a raid?

Yes. Bulk bans from the alert ask for confirmation first, and the console’s incident log has an Undo action that unbans every account banned in that incident.
