Discord starboard bot: a hall of fame for your best messages

The best memes, clutch clips and legendary one-liners scroll away in minutes. The BotGG Discord starboard bot catches them: when a message reaches your star threshold, it is reposted to a board channel and the count keeps updating as more people react.

What you get

Up to 10 boards

Run a classic ⭐ Hall of fame next to a 😂 Funny board or a 🔥 Hot takes board. Each board has its own emoji, channel, threshold and color.

Any emoji, any threshold

Use a Unicode emoji or one of your server’s custom emojis. The threshold goes from 1 to 100 reactions, so it fits a 50-member squad or a big community.

Live star count

The board post updates as reactions come and go. On the default ⭐ board the star grows with the count: 🌟 at 5, 💫 at 10, ✨ at 25.

Fair counting

Bots never count, and self-stars are ignored unless you allow them. Drop below the threshold and the post can be removed automatically.

Smart ignore rules

Skip channels, their threads and authors with certain roles, ignore messages older than a set number of days, and keep NSFW content out of a safe board.

Starboard leaderboard

/starboard top ranks the most-starred members and the top five messages for this week, month, year or all time — per board or across all boards.

How it works

  1. Enable Starboard in the console

Open https://console.botgg.app, choose your server and switch on Starboard. Start from a preset — ⭐ Hall of fame, 😂 Funny or 🔥 Hot takes — or build a board from scratch.

  2. Pick the emoji, channel and threshold

Choose the board channel and how many reactions a message needs. A live preview shows exactly what the board post will look like.

  3. Let members react

Members react with the board emoji as usual. Once a message reaches the threshold, BotGG reposts it with the author, text, first image and a Jump to message button.

  4. Celebrate the top

Use /starboard top in Discord or the Top tab in the console to see the most-starred members and messages for any period.

How the BotGG starboard for Discord works

Each reaction change schedules a recount for that message, so bursts of reactions never spam edits. The bot counts real people who reacted with the board emoji, minus bots and minus the author (unless self-stars are on), then posts, updates or removes the board entry.

The board post shows the star count and source channel on top, then an embed with the author’s name and avatar, the message text, the first image and links to other attachments. If Discord doesn’t share a message’s text with the bot, the post links to the original instead. If the original is deleted, its board post goes too — but it still counts on the leaderboard.

  • Board post deleted by hand? It comes back on the next star
  • Change the board channel and posts move with it
  • Optionally allow bot messages to be starred
  • Stars from a NSFW channel stay out of a non-NSFW board unless you allow them

Make your Discord hall of fame part of the community

Frequently asked questions

What is a starboard on Discord?

A starboard is a channel where the best messages of your server are collected automatically. When a message gets enough reactions with a chosen emoji (usually ⭐), a bot reposts it there with a star count.

How do I set up a starboard on my Discord server?

Invite BotGG, open the web console, enable Starboard and add a board: pick the emoji, the board channel and the number of reactions needed. That’s it — members just react as usual.

Can I have more than one starboard?

Yes. You can run up to 10 boards, each with a different emoji, for example ⭐ for highlights and 😂 for memes. Your plan decides how many boards are active — see pricing.

Do people’s own reactions count?

Not by default. Self-stars are ignored unless you turn them on for a board, and reactions from bots never count.

Can I stop some channels from reaching the starboard?

Yes. Each board has ignored channels (including their threads), ignored author roles and a maximum message age, so old or off-topic messages stay out.

Ready to level up your server?

Add BotGG for free, then switch features on in the web console.
