Discord translation bot for multilingual servers

Right-click a message, choose Translate and read it in your own language. BotGG also mirrors channels like #en-chat and #ru-chat into each other, posting every message translated under the author’s name and avatar, so an international community can share one conversation.

What you get

Translate from the message menu

Apps → Translate on any message shows a private translation into your Discord language, with a picker for 25 other languages.

/translate for your own text

/translate text [to] [share] translates what you type. Pick the language by code, English or native name, and share the result in the channel if you like.

Auto-translate channel groups

Link 2 to 5 channels, each with its language. A message in one appears, translated, in the others, posted under the author’s name and avatar.

Flag reactions

Optional: react with 🇺🇸, 🇷🇺, 🇮🇱 or another flag and the bot replies with the translation in that language. 33 languages are supported.

Code, links and mentions stay intact

Code blocks, mentions, channel links, custom emoji, timestamps and URLs are protected before translation, and replies never ping anyone.

Fair daily quota

Up to 50 translations a day on Free and 2,000 on Pro. The same text translated twice within an hour is served from cache and isn’t counted.

How it works

  1. Enable Translation

Open https://console.botgg.app, pick your server and switch on Translation. The message menu and /translate are on by default; flag reactions are a toggle.

  2. Link channels (optional)

On the Channel groups tab add a group, pick 2 to 5 channels and set the language of each. 1 group on Free, 20 on Pro.

  3. Try it in the console

The Try it tab translates a sample text so you can check the quality before members use it.

  4. Members translate in Discord

They use the message menu, /translate or a flag reaction, and simply chat in their own channel when groups are set up.

One server, many languages

Gaming clans, language-exchange servers and international communities often split into language channels that never talk to each other. With a channel group, BotGG posts each message into the other channels, translated, through a webhook named “BotGG Translate”, so it looks like the author wrote it there. A small line under the copy shows the language pair and links to the original. Deleting the original deletes its copies, and messages from bots, webhooks and command-like text such as !rank are skipped by default.

Translations are made by an AI provider, currently Google Gemini (see the sub-processor list). Only the text that needs translating is sent; BotGG doesn’t save the translated text, it keeps message IDs of mirrored copies for 14 days so it can delete them with the original. The message menu and /translate work without extra Discord permissions. Channel groups and flag reactions need the Message Content intent, and groups also need Manage Webhooks in each channel.

  • Message menu: Apps → Translate (private, with a language picker)
  • /translate text [to] [share]: translate your own text
  • Channel groups: 2 to 5 linked channels, each with its own language
  • Flag reactions: 🇺🇸 🇬🇧 🇷🇺 🇮🇱 🇩🇪 🇫🇷 🇪🇸 🇯🇵 and more

Frequently asked questions

How do I translate a message on Discord?

With BotGG on your server, right-click (or long-press) the message, open Apps and choose Translate. You get a private translation into your Discord language and can switch to another language from the list.

Can Discord translate a whole channel automatically?

Yes, with channel groups. Link channels such as #en-chat and #ru-chat and give each a language; every message posted in one appears translated in the others under the author’s name and avatar.

Which languages are supported?

33 languages, including English, Russian, Hebrew, Ukrainian, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Polish, Turkish, Arabic, Persian, Hindi, Chinese, Japanese and Korean. The picker under a translation shows 25 of them; /translate accepts all 33.

Will the translation break mentions or code?

No. Code blocks, inline code, mentions, channel links, custom emoji, timestamps and URLs are set aside before translation and put back after. Translated messages are sent without pinging anyone.

How many translations can my server make?

Up to 50 per day on the Free plan and 2,000 on Pro (reset at 00:00 UTC). Repeated identical text is cached for an hour and doesn’t count. See pricing.

Does the bot store my messages?

No. Text is sent to the AI model only to translate it, and the result is posted in Discord. BotGG keeps daily usage counters and, for channel groups, the IDs of mirrored copies for 14 days.
