Discord server analytics: growth, activity, voice time and member retention

Insights counts what happens on your server (joins and leaves, messages per channel and hour, voice time, boosts) and turns it into a staff dashboard in the console. It keeps counters only, never message content, and every member can opt out with one command.

Only you can see this

The private 7-day recap staff get with /insights summary

What you get

Growth over time

Member count, joins and leaves per day, and boosts across the range you pick. See the day a raid hit or a partnership paid off.

Activity heatmap

Messages by weekday and hour in your server’s timezone, active members per day and the busiest channels. Plan events for when people are actually around.

Voice time

Hours in voice per day, top voice channels and top members. Time in the AFK channel is skipped by default, and voice tracking can be turned off.

Invite sources and retention

Which invites and the vanity URL bring people in, how many are still here and how many stayed 7 days. Cohorts show retention after 1, 7 and 30 days.

Privacy built in

Message text is never stored. Bots are left out by default, you can exclude channels, categories and roles, and members can stop being counted with /insights optout.

Summary in Discord, CSV on Pro

/insights summary gives staff a private 7-day recap compared with the week before. On Pro you can export every dataset as CSV.

How it works

  1. Enable Insights

Open https://console.botgg.app, choose your server and switch on Insights. It’s off by default, and counting starts when you turn it on: the first numbers show up within minutes.

  2. Choose what’s counted

Decide whether bots count, keep or drop voice tracking and the AFK rule, and exclude private channels, whole categories or staff roles.

  3. Read the dashboard

Pick a range and browse the Overview, Growth, Activity, Members, Invites and Voice tabs. Every chart also has a table view.

  4. Check in from Discord

Staff with the Manage Server permission run /insights summary for a quick private recap with a link to the full dashboard.

Server analytics that respect your members

Most server owners guess when their community is active and which invites actually work. Insights replaces the guessing with numbers: a day by hour heatmap in your timezone, top channels and members, joins versus leaves, and how many newcomers are still around a week later.

Collection is deliberately minimal. A message only bumps counters per channel, member and day; its text is never saved. Members can opt out with /insights optout, which deletes their personal stats right away, and come back with /insights optin. History is kept for 30 days on Free and 365 days on Pro, and older data is deleted automatically. For live counters in channel names see Stat channels, and to reward members who invite friends see Invites & Rewards.

Frequently asked questions

How do I see analytics for my Discord server?

Add BotGG, open the console, pick your server and enable Insights. The dashboard shows growth, activity, members, invites and voice for the range you choose, and staff can get a quick recap in Discord with /insights summary.

Does Insights read or store messages?

No. A message only increases counters (per channel and hour, per member and day). The text is never saved, and webhook and system messages are never counted.

Can members opt out of server analytics?

Yes. Any member can run /insights optout to stop being counted on that server; their personal stats are deleted at once. /insights optin turns counting back on.

How far back does the data go?

Insights starts counting when you enable it. History is kept for 30 days on the Free plan and 365 days on Pro; older days are removed automatically. See pricing.

Can I export the statistics?

On Pro you can download each dataset (daily totals, channels, members, invites, voice) as a CSV file that opens in Excel or Google Sheets.
