A warning in the mod log after the member hit an escalation rule

What you get

Every action is a case

Warns, timeouts, kicks, bans, tempbans, softbans, notes and purges get a case number with reason, evidence links, duration and a timeline you can edit later.

Warnings that escalate

Set rules like “3 warnings in 7 days → 1 hour timeout” or “5 warnings → ban”. Warnings expire after the number of days you choose.

AutoMod filters

Ten rules: spam, duplicates, mass mentions, caps, invites, links, bad words with wildcards, zalgo, attachment spam and brand-new accounts.

Anti-raid mode

A raid score from join rate, new accounts, missing avatars, look-alike names and shared invite links. BotGG locks channels, forces the verification captcha and lists the raiders with one-click ban.

Anti-nuke per user

Deleted channels and roles, mass bans, webhook spam, dangerous permission grants and unauthorized bots: the account is quarantined, the damage reverted and deleted channels restored from a backup.

Phishing link database

Known scam links from public phishing lists, your own block and allow lists, and a detector for look-alike domains that swap a letter of a well-known name. Free for every server.

How it works

  1. Enable Moderation in the console

Turn on Moderation in the BotGG console, pick mod roles and a mod log channel, and decide whether a reason is required.

  2. Configure AutoMod

Switch on the rules you need, set thresholds, and choose per rule whether to delete, warn or time out. Exempt staff roles and channels.

  3. Add escalation and protection

Define warning thresholds and their punishments, then turn on anti-raid mode, anti-nuke and phishing protection on the Protection tab — the Protection score shows what is still missing.

  4. Moderate from Discord

    Use /warn, /timeout, /kick, /ban, /purge, /lock, /lockdown and /panic, and look up history with /modlog and /case.

Discord automod that you control

Each AutoMod rule has its own threshold and actions: delete the message, add a warning that counts toward escalation, or time the member out for a set number of seconds. Link filtering works as a deny list or an allow list of domains, the invite filter can allow your own server’s invites, and the bad-word list supports * wildcards.

Staff are exempt automatically, and you can exempt extra roles and channels globally or per rule. During a burst, messages keep getting deleted but the warning, timeout and log happen once, so your mod log doesn’t explode. Our Discord automod setup guide suggests a sensible starting configuration.

  • Durations like 10m, 2h, 7d, 1h30m — also in Russian and Hebrew.
  • Tempbans and timeouts expire on schedule, even after a restart.
  • Role hierarchy checks stop moderators acting on higher roles.
  • /purge filters by user, text or bots, up to 100 messages at a time.

Built for the whole moderation team

Moderators need the matching Discord permission or one of your mod roles, and destructive actions like deleting a case need Manage Server. The console shows a dashboard, a searchable case list, AutoMod stats and every setting in one place, and cases also appear in your server logs.

Members get a DM explaining what happened, with an optional appeal note, and every action lands in your mod log channel as a tidy embed. For new-member gating, pair Moderation with Verification — see the Discord verification guide.

Protection for the bad days: anti-nuke, anti-raid and phishing

With the View Audit Log permission BotGG knows who deleted a channel, banned a crowd or created a webhook, so it responds to that one account: quarantine (every role removed and stored so staff can restore them), kick or ban, then it reverts what it can and alerts your team. Without that permission it still counts deletions server-wide and alerts — the console tells you how to grant it.

Anti-raid mode scores every join burst and, when it looks like a raid, locks the server until it is calm again and makes newcomers solve the verification captcha. The phishing filter checks links in messages against public phishing lists and a look-alike detector; it needs Discord’s Message Content intent to read ordinary messages, and without it scans member names and messages that mention the bot.

  • /panic locks every channel, pauses invites and can quarantine a member — /panic end restores it all.
  • Per-event thresholds: channels, roles, bans, kicks, unbans, webhooks, emoji deletions.
  • Auto-restore of deleted channels and roles from your latest backup.
  • An incident log in the console with “Restore roles” and “Undo”.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best way to set up automod on Discord?

Start with spam, mass mentions, invites and links, set actions to delete plus warn, and add escalation rules so repeat offenders get timed out automatically. The automod setup guide has recommended thresholds.

Can the bot punish automatically after several warnings?

Yes. Escalation rules turn a number of active warnings — optionally within a number of days — into a timeout, kick, tempban or ban. The new case links back to the warning that triggered it.

How does anti-raid work?

BotGG watches the join rate and gives each burst a raid score (new accounts, no profile picture, similar names, the same invite link). On a raid it locks channels, makes newcomers pass the verification captcha, lists or removes the raiders and alerts your team. It ends after a calm period and restores permissions exactly.

Do punished members get a DM?

Yes, by default. DMs explain the action, reason and duration, can show the moderator, and ban DMs can include your appeal instructions. Every template is editable.

Does AutoMod need the Message Content intent?

Content-based rules such as bad words, links, invites and caps need it, and so does phishing scanning of ordinary messages. Spam, mass mentions, new-account rules, member-name phishing checks and anti-nuke work without it.

What does anti-nuke need?

The View Audit Log permission, so BotGG can see who did what and act on that account only; without it you get server-wide alerts. Deleting webhooks needs Manage Webhooks and pausing invites needs Manage Server. Auto-restore of deleted channels and roles is free on every plan and uses your latest backup.
