A private thread for each pair
The bot creates a private thread, adds the newcomer and their buddy, and posts a welcome message that introduces the buddy, with your own text and placeholders.
Buddies makes sure no newcomer is left alone. When someone joins (or passes Verification), the bot pairs them with a volunteer buddy and opens a private thread for the two of them. Pairing is spread fairly across your buddies, can match people by language or region roles, and buddies are rewarded when their newcomer reaches milestones.

The bot creates a private thread, adds the newcomer and their buddy, and posts a welcome message that introduces the buddy, with your own text and placeholders.
Members opt in with /buddy join or a “Become a buddy” panel, or you simply give a role. Buddies set a short intro and how many newcomers they take at once.
Newcomers go to the buddy with the most room, and you can prefer (or require) a shared role, such as a language or a region, so people who understand each other meet.
When a newcomer reaches a level, stays for N days or attends N events, their buddy earns Bank coins, a role or Reputation, once per milestone.
A buddy who stays silent or leaves the server is replaced automatically, and the newcomer can ask for a different buddy with one button.
The console lists every pairing, each buddy’s load and how many of their newcomers stayed, plus pairings per day and a buddy leaderboard.
Open https://console.botgg.app, choose your server and switch on Buddies in the Community section. The /buddy commands then appear in your server.
Choose the channel the private threads live in, then let members opt in, give a buddy role, or both. Post the opt-in panel with /buddy panel.
A few minutes after a member joins (or is verified), they get a buddy and a private thread. Staff can also pair someone right away with /buddy pair.
Add milestone rows (level, days in the server, events attended) with a reward each. Pairings complete after the number of days you choose.
A welcome message is nice; a real person who answers questions is better. Buddies gives each newcomer exactly one open pairing, even when several things try to pair them at once, and waits for Verification if you use it, so raiders never get a buddy. Bots are never paired.
If no buddy is free the newcomer waits until one is, up to the time you set. Silent buddies are swapped for someone else after a set number of hours, and when a pairing ends its thread is locked and archived. Free servers can set up to 2 milestones and Pro servers up to 10.

Each new member is paired with an experienced member who welcomes them, answers questions and helps them settle in. It is one of the most effective ways to make newcomers stay, and BotGG runs it for you automatically.
Anyone who opts in with /buddy join or the panel, if you allow opting in (optionally only members with certain roles), plus everyone who holds a buddy role. Buddies can pause any time with /buddy pause.
Yes. Choose matching roles (for example language or region roles). In “prefer” mode the bot picks a buddy who shares one when possible; in “require” mode a newcomer with a matching role only gets a buddy who shares it.
If a buddy writes nothing in the thread for the number of hours you set, the newcomer is passed to another buddy (a few times at most). The newcomer can also press “Different buddy” in the thread.
With milestones: when their newcomer reaches a level, stays a number of days or attends a number of events, the buddy gets the reward you set — Bank coins, a role or Reputation points. Each milestone pays out once.
